On our weekly hunt for a negroni to start the weekend, Hackney gave us its best shot at Lardo Eatery & Bar this Friday, accompanied by some delicious Mediterranean fare.
Just off Mare street at the northern end of London Fields, Lardo is a pocket of energy during this bitter Spring. Next time we’ll book, but we didn’t have to wait too long for a table and were put at ease by the friendly staff.
We had:
- A classic negroni – Campari/Martini Rosso, and with Sipsmith gin. Ticked all the boxes
- A negroni sbagliato – nothing to complain about
- Burrata – would rival any burrata mozzarella you are likely to taste, would love to know where they sourced it
- Tomato, Mozzarella, Basil pizza – the highlight of this was the perfect tomato sauce that combined a perfect amount of acidity and sweetness. The base was hot and crisp from the wood oven, the mozzarella was light and fresh. Could not get a better margherita pizza
We only wish we had room in our tummies for more, but we’ll definitely be back!
