The Lanchid19 Design Hotel is a simple yet pleasant hotel with an incredible view of the Danube, the famous Chain Bridge and the city of Pest beyond it.
It is in a perfect location for exploring Budapest. Less than 200 metres away is the 1870 funicular (destroyed in WWII and rebuilt 1983) that whisks passengers up the hill to Buda’s Castle District. A fifteen minute walk in the opposite direction will take you to the famous Gellert Baths. Ten minutes across the Danube on the Chain Bridge (rebuilt after it was also destroyed during the war) and you are in the main shopping area of Pest.
Lanchid19 belongs to the Design Hotels chain, which provides modern hotel settings for good value. Whilst not at the cutting edge, we enjoyed our clean, minimalist room at the Lanchid that was well-designed to take advantage of the building’s enviable setting with the large window facing the river. Some quirky touches with the wall decorations and a modest but clean bathroom made for a suitable pad for a no fuss weekend abroad.
The best aspect of the Lanchid19 is certainly its proximity to the Castle District, meaning that the Buda Castle, the Fisherman’s Bastion, the Matthias Church, and the delightful 1800s Ruszwurm Café are just moments away. If you are one for city tour buses, both routes stop just a minute from the front door. We highly recommend this hotel for weekend breaks if you are planning to see a lot of Budapest in a short amount of time.
