Tucked into the top corner of trendy Sinsadong-Gurosi-gil is the hands-down winning Hotel La Casa Seoul. For those of your familiar with the Rhineland, it smacks a bit like Berlin’s Michelburger Hotel; distinctively homely, with books lining the walls, planters growing over the doorways, and Scandinavian touches of exposed wood and brushed silver lamps.
Entering the foyer feels like you’ve arrived into your ideal pad after the long journey from Insadong airport. The hotel has 61 rooms ranging from the basic but comfortable Deluxe Double, and larger Business Double with higher ceilings and room to rest your port.
The rooms sport iconic French skincare Caudalie, freshly coloured bedspreads, and a view of Autumnal parklands outside.
On the 4th floor the larger suites are more suitable for the luxury traveller needing some room to spread out their purchases from some seriously good shopping down the road at institutions like Aland , Radio Eyes, and more. For those wanting a spot to throw a party or host a private event the top floor atrium is available with full dinner table which can be catered for externally or from the La Casa restaurant downstairs which boasts a mean burger and fries.
But really, if you need a meal head down to the divine Allo Paper Cafe for brunch, a great flat white, or a mean Korean BBQ at Psy’s mom’s restaurant Kuai 19.
For those needing work it off, the gym on the second floor has ample apparatus’ to choose from, or it’s a short run down to the Hermes Dorean Park (named so for the huge Hermes hut dwarfing the maple trees). Group running is big here in Seoul so if you need a pair of new runners head to the unmarked Nike store around the corner. Seoul doesn’t have a tonne of great hotels, (see our review of Hotel The Designers and The Shilla can be yours too for a higher price point). So if you’re looking for an easy, uncomplicated, quite stunning stay Mia Casa is it. Oh and don’t forget to pop next door to check out the Everyday Casa store where you can find knick backs and local finds to put in your already bursting suitcase.
As much for the location as the peaceful interiors, we’d recommend La Casa highly. Helpful staff, a good vibe, and the perfect place to rest your head and soul.
