When looking for a destination for your wedding, it’s nice to think that the place you choose has some history and some character as a back-drop for your special event.
Danesfield House in Marlow, nestled in the Chiltern Hills and overlooking the River Thames, certainly has all that.
As a quintessentially British venue, it was the location for the RAF Intelligence during the war, and has had a host of owners since it’s original building in the 1725 including Royal attaches, Carnation Foods, the “Sunlight soap” family, and of course, the Air Ministry. And for anyone who reads the gossip pages, it was also the chosen location for George and Amah Clooney’s English wedding.
With it’s imposing and beautiful clock tower, expansive grounds, and excellent massage and spa and features, it’s a perfect mix of luxury and character for a destination wedding.
The rooms for your guests range from Superior (complete with four poster beds), Classic (with a more understated elegance), and even Phillipe Starck moden style with views across the grounds.
The restaurant has received accolades from Michelin star in 2012, and the sunny breakfast room is a very enjoyable start to the day with attentive and friendly staff.
There’s also good surrounding facilities including golf, boat packages, and access to the gym facilities (with 20 metre pool).
The Wedding packages are well priced starting at £95 per head, and all facilities from childcare to marquees and photographers are available for an easy wedding planning experience. Arrivals by helicopter can also be arranged for an extra special entrance!
A perfect venue for your classic English countryside wedding or honeymoon – with a lot of glamour to boot.
