This is the place where food and wine come together in perfect harmony. Pour in a spa, ultimate relaxation, history and a pillow menu and you have Tapiz down to a fine T.
Our two nights before we set foot on the vineyard of Club Tapiz were spent up the Andes mountains in Cordón Del Plata. So with achy bodies we couldn’t wait to be dined and wined by Alejandro, the boutique hotel’s manager and his critically acclaimed head chef Solidad Nardelli (co-owner of the famous Chila restaurant in Buenos Aries). Our visit exceeded all expectations. Even with the rave reviews from our mountaineering guide who ensured we were in for a treat.
Wine Lovers Paradise🍷
So what makes Club Tapiz so special? It is exactly why you come to Mendoza. We arrived to the nightly wine tasting ritual which involved two wines from the Tapiz portfolio. This was also the perfect opportunity to mingle with other guests, all facilitated by Alejandro’s expertise and charm. After sampling a fruity Rosé, and with a Zolo Malbec in our glasses we were shown around the grounds of the winery. The bodega was built in 1890 and was used as a working winery until 2002. It was then bought by the Ortiz family and converted into a hotel. With the plummy oaky Malbec swishing around our mouths we were ushered into Pour Le Galeria, a grand space where tanks and barrels were once located. It is now an event area complete with an astonishing mural by renowned artist Sergio Roggerone.
The Art of Fine Food🎨
The evening was now in full flow. Keen to sample more of the local delights we strolled into the restaurant. As soon as we were seated we were treated to Tapiz olive oil. This golden liquid is made on site from 100% Arauco olives and is 100% delicious. Our fluently English speaking waitress proceeded to take us through the menu. It was beautifully simple. There was an air of confidence in the three or four named ingredients for each dish. We opted for Ribeye-potatoes-garlic and the pancetta-pumpkin-grape-citrus. What followed was a work of art, in how the food was presented and tasted. Continuing our Zolo theme we accompanied our food with the Cabernet Sauvignon. Perfecto.
Treat Yourself to a Treatment
Sipping wine aside, there’s also a pool overlooking the vines. And in 30 degree heat it always looked inviting. To top off your stay you can also indulge in a number of spa treatments or chill with a glass of bubbly in the jacuzzi.
For the fine things in life, there’s Mendoza. And to enjoy them all there’s Club Tapiz.
